Essential Functions: The GPSS Publications Assistant will be responsible for taking minutes at assigned GPSS meetings; designing, copy writing, & copy editing of advertisements, brochures, posters, press releases, fliers and other materials; and other duties as assigned to assist the Secretary in fulfilling his/her duties.

Additional Duties: The Publications Assistant will also assist in providing and collecting information to and from Senators, providing needed public documents, media relations, and ASUW relations.  May also be involved in the GPSS diversity efforts and minor website maintenance. Other duties as requested by the GPSS Secretary.

Hours and Salary: $9-11/hour – 10 hours per week

Qualifications: Must be a student for the 2009-10 academic year at the University of Washington. Additional qualifications include:

  • Excellent writing & editing skills, well organized
  • Works well individually and in groups
  • Good typing skills and experience in live transcription
  • Experience with UW programs and services is helpful
  • Experience with databases is helpful
  • Comfortable with using a computer
  • Familiarity with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is preferred
  • Availability will be a factor in the selection process (must be available for meetings on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.).
