The Advisory Committee on Recreational Sports Programs serves as an advisory board to Director of Recreational Sports Programs in matters relating to the use of recreational sports facilities, financial operations, schedule of charges and general operational policies. Assists in long-range planning

The Architectural Commission Student Member is charged with the responsibility of reviewing significant matters relative to planning and architectural design of campus. It reviews and recommends general and specific planning and design policies, campus plans and the selection of building sites

The ASUW Legislative Steering Committee serves as the legislative governing body for the undergraduate senate. This committee develops the ASUW Legislative Agenda and helps plan Lobby Day.

The ASUW Senate serves as the governing body of the Undergraduates. The GPSS Representatives will provide a graduate and professional student perspective to the Senate.

The Board of Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for ensuring the University has a broad base of professional judgment and skill to provide guidance to the UW for protecting the health and safety of students, faculty and staff, and the surrounding community

The Board of Student Publications refers specifically to The Daily, although they are looking to include a humor publication and maybe a literary magazine in the near future. The Daily is also planning to have daily video/audio podcasts online in the fall, and possibly move into radio or television within the next few years.

The Brotman Awards for Instructional Excellence Committee helps select students for the Brotman Award. President Richard L. McCormick established the Brotman Awards for Instructional Excellence in 1998 to recognize the accomplishments of programs and departments in advancing excellence in teaching and learning

The Campus Art Collection Committee reviews potential gifts and makes recommendations to the President based on their artistic merit and appropriateness for the collection. The CACC may reject a gift if there is not an acceptable site or if there is concern about long-term maintenance.

The Campus Landscape Advisory Committee advises the Executive Vice President, who has responsibility for campus physical facilities and development on matters pertaining to general landscaping of the campus

The Campus Security Advisory Committee provides an institutional mechanism for the identification of additional programs and policies aiding in continuation of protection of the personal safety of those who work, study and live on campus. Specific attention given to physical safety

The Center for Instructional Development and Research (CIDR) provides instructional consulting and resources for UW Graduate School departments and instructors.

The Childcare Advisory Committee (ASUW/GPSS Joint Appointment) advises the Vice Provost of Student Lifeon issues regarding the Childcare Assistance Program.

The City/University Community Advisory Committee advises the City and the University on the orderly physical development of the greater University area; to encourage the provision of adequate City services to the University and adjacent community and business areas

The Committee on Student Records is appointed by the president of the university and shall be responsible for reviewing unusual requests for information and for assisting in the interpretation of these rules. The committee shall also be responsible for hearing appeals as defined in WAC 4

The Distinguished Teaching Awards Selection Committee helps in the selection of faculty of several teaching awards. Each year, the University of Washington honors several members of the faculty as Distinguished Teachers

The task for this seat is to consider issues of diversity on the UW campus with the Office of the Vice President of Minority Affairs.

This is a working group to examine the UW's policies and procedures to assure that our students have the level of English language proficiency needed to succeed in their studies. There are several aspects to this question, which at minimum include: Who should be assessed for proficiency? How should they be assessed? What types of coursework or other support need to be provided? Who should pay for such coursework or support? These questions pertain to both undergraduate and graduate/professional students, and while the committee should address both, we are interested in the former, especially freshmen and transfer students.

The Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee is charged to advise the President on policy and implementation strategies needed to achieve successful implementation of the University of Washington Environmental Stewardship Policy. In short, this committee examines all University Environmental issues

If the University Complaint Investigation and Resolution Office (UCIRO), a dean or any other authorized administrative official files with the Provost a written report that claims reasonable causes exist to adjudicate charges that a faculty member has violated University regulations or state or federal laws pertaining to the faculty member's performance of his or her duties, the Provost shall determine whether such reasonable cause exists. If the report is filed by the UCIRO, the Provost shall first appoint a special committee of three faculty members who are not involved in the matter being considered and who are members of the Adjudication Panel. No member of this special committee shall subsequently serve on any Panel hearing or review any adjudication arising out of or related to the matters set forth in the report. Based solely on the written record of the investigation, the special committee shall assist and advise the Provost in his or her evaluation of whether reasonable cause exists. If the Provost believes such reasonable cause exists, then, before taking any disciplinary or punitive action against such faculty member, the Provost shall initiate an adjudication for resolution of such charges by filing a petition in the time and manner specified below. Essentially, this panel is an adjudicative hearing board for allegations of faculty misconduct.

Applicants must intend to be in residence at the Seattle campus for two years. However, this is an academic year appointment.

The Faculty Council on Academic Standards is responsible for matters of University policy relating to the academic affairs of the University, such as admissions policy, scholastic standards, university graduation requirements, and inter-institutional academic standards

The Faculty Council on Benefits and Retirement is responsible for all matters of policy relating to faculty retirement, insurance, and benefits. It acts in an advisory capacity to the faculty and President on matters connected with the functioning of the retirement system

The Faculty Council on Educational Outreach is responsible for all matters of policy, academic and non-academic, relating to Continuing Education, University Extension, and Summer School programs

The Faculty Council on Educational Technology is responsible for all matters of policy, academic and non-academic, relating to introduction of educational technology in instruction. It actively pursues the promotion, adoption, and evaluation of educational technology for use in the classroom

The Faculty Council on Faculty Affairs is responsible for all matters relating to the interests of the faculty, such as appointment, tenure, promotion, professional leave, compensation (including salary and fringe benefits), academic freedom, standards of academic performance, and promotion

The Faculty Council on Instructional Quality is responsible for all matters of policy related to the evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning in the University

The Faculty Council on Research is responsible for all matters of policy relating to research (including grants and contracts)

The Faculty Council on Student Affairs is responsible for all matters of policy relating to non-academic student affairs (such as, financial aid, housing, regulation of social affairs, eligibility rules, intercollegiate athletics, and general student welfare)

The Faculty Council on Tri-Campus Policy is responsible (as described in Section 42-46) for matters of academic and non-academic policy between and among the campuses of the University of Washington

The Faculty Council on University Facilities & Services is responsible for all matters of policy relating to University facilities and services such as building needs, space utilization, supplies and equipment, administrative services, and parking and traffic problems

The Faculty Council on University Libraries is responsible for all matters of policy relating to libraries - collection development, services to students, faculty, and others, the system of libraries, including branch libraries, space needs and budgetary requirements

The Faculty Council on University Relations is responsible for all matters of policy relating to University relations, including community affairs; government relations at the local, state, and federal levels; public service; University communications; and alumni relations

The Faculty Senate Committee on Planning and Budgeting. advises the administration on the University budget and plans for the future of the University. It also regularly informs the Faculty Senate on University budgeting and planning issues

The Advisory Committee on Friday Harbor Laboratories advises on the research, instructional directions and long range planning

The Hall Health Advisory Committee advises the hall health center and also serves as an information exchange for several constituencies of the center

The Homecoming Royalty Selection Committee helps in the selection of the Homecoming Royalty here at the University of Washington. Graduate and professional students are eligible to run for royalty

The Information Management Advisory Committee advises on technology directions, strategies, policies, plans, priorities, and needs vital to sustaining the cost-effectiveness and excellence of administrative and business technologies that support the University's teaching, learning and research

The Institutional Animal Use & Care Committee publishes and updates policies on procedures used with research animals at the University of Washington

The Library Fines Appeals Committee reviews and adjudicates appeals of library charges filed by users who contest charges on the basis of error, disagreement with policy, forgery, and extenuating circumstances as provided for in the Loan Code for the University of Washington Libraries, WAC

The Marsha L. Landolt Distinguished Graduate Mentor Award selects the recipient of the award that recognizes a faculty person who has made outstanding contributions to the education and guidance of graduate students. This Award is conferred in a University-wide ceremony and carries a stipend of $5,000.

A task force was commissioned last year to discuss issues surrounding the N 45th area adjacent to the UW Seattle Campus. The report from the task has been released, and this committee is helping to further its implementation.

The Strategic Risk Initiative Review Committee reviews proposed actions to strengthen the coordination and culture of compliance at the University of Washington.

The President's Advisory Committee on Women (PACW) identifies issues of concern to women at UW, disseminates information on the status of women, advises the President on issues relating to women faculty, staff & students and makes recommendations for improving the status of women at UW

The Public Art Commission develops specific arts acquisition programs using 1/2 percent of the arts funds, reviews proposals for specific arts acquisition, selects artists and arts programs and establishes procedures and policies to implement the university's public art program

The Committee on Public Exercises is responsible, through the office of the Vice Provost for Student Life, for planning and overall direction of commencement ceremonies and special academic convocations.

The Research Advisory Board assures a continuous exchange of information among persons with significant responsibility for the University's research program and advises the president on matters of policy and procedures related to the conduct of research at the UW

The Services and Activities Fee Committee (Position 1) meets to develop an annual recommended budget to the Board of Regents detailing how funds collected from the Services & Activities Fee should be spent. The Committee also recommends the fee level for each year

The Standing Committee on Accessibility advises the administration on various and feasibly methods of complying with the ADA guidelines, accessibility budget priorities for capital funding and maintenance and operations of program

The State Environmental Policy Act Advisory Committee (SEPA) assists the University in compliance with the provisions of the State Environmental Policy Act and similar regulations. It reviews draft and final environmental impact statements and proposed revisions to State Guidelines or related University regulations

The Student Counseling Center Advisory Committee advises the Director of the Student Counseling Center in the formulation of new policies and programs by helping the Center define its appropriate campus role.

The Student Insurance Review Committee evaluates and makes recommendations on the coverage and cost of the insurance plan. The performance of the underwriter and the servicing representative and the appropriateness and efficiency of plan administration

The Student Regent Selection Committee selects three to five applicants to send to the Washington State Governor on who should be the student representative to the University's Board of Regents

The Student Technology Fee is designed to provide funds for the improvement of technology used by the students at the University of Washington (UW) campuses. The Seattle Student Technology Fee Committee shall determine the expenditure of this fee

The 12-member committee was appointed by UW president Mark Emmert, is chaired by former three-term state governor and United States Senator Dan Evans and is charged with developing a long-range plan for improvements to Husky Stadium.

The Tuition Policy Committee is charged with the identification, review, and assessment of tuition and fees for undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs and providing policy recommendations

The University Bookstore Trustee governs the University Bookstore. The University Bookstore is a corporate trust governed by an eleven-member board of trustees consisting of University of Washington students, faculty and staff and the Book Store's Chief Executive Officer

The University Budget Committee is established by the President of the University as an advisory group in preparing the University's biennial operating budget and capital budget requests for submission to the Board of Regents and then for subsequent submission to the Governor.

The University Technology Advisory Committee provides advice and policy guidance on all technology issues, strategies, and priorities of importance to the UW

The University Transportation Committee (UTC) acts as expert counsel and a representative voice of the Campus Community on a wide variety of transportation issues. The UTC will advise the University Administration regarding all modes of human transportation used for commuting and University business. The UTC shall also serve as a resource to other bodies, including Faculty Senate, Staff Council, the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSS), and the Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW). Specific areas of oversight include but are not limited to the policies, practices, and fees associated with the Campus Parking System, U-Pass, Shuttle Operations, and Fleet Services.

The Committee on the Use of University Facilities addresses how the University is used for both University events and non University events.

The Emergency Management Planning committee is composed of representatives from academic and operating units that provide guidance and day-to-day program oversight for the University's emergency and disaster management programs. The EMPC meets bi-monthly to discuss planning, training and other preparedness issues as well as to assist in the management of the UW Disaster Resistant University program funded through FEMA. Meetings are open to any member of the campus community.
